International Conference "The entry into force of the Association Agreement with the EU – Ukraine's readiness and the first results"

The staff of KISTERSKY IP Law took part in the international conference “The entry into force of the Association Agreement with the EU – Ukraine’s readiness and first results”, organized by the Committee of the Ukrainian Bar Association on Intellectual Property in conjunction with the Kyiv National University named after A.Yu. T. Shevchenko and the Research Institute of Intellectual Property of the NAPR of Ukraine.
Attending the conference were lawyers and patent attorneys from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Austria.
The discussion was the Agreement on Association of Ukraine with the European Union that entered into force on September 1, 2017. The conference was held as a thematic meeting for the settlement and coverage of many aspects related to the Association Agreement with the EU.
 

 
In the first “international” session, the representatives of Georgia and Moldova, where similar agreements with the EU have earned earlier than in Ukraine, acquainted participants with how the relations in the field of IP rights protection in their countries are legally regulated. Dr. Leonhard Rice (Austria) spoke about the common approaches of the EU to the regulation of IP protection.

During the work of the second session, the issues of entry into force of the association agreement with the EU – Ukraine’s readiness – were discussed. The report “Evolution of protection and protection of IP rights in the context of the Association Agreement with the EU” was made by Nikolai Pototsky, the head of the department for the organization of protection of rights and consideration of appeals of the State Enterprise Ukrpatent. Scientific employee of the Institute of International Relations, Chair of Comparative and European Law, Institute of International Relations, KNU T. Shevchenko Irina Berezovskaya in her speech considered the Association Agreement with the EU as the legal basis for the Europeanization of Ukrainian legislation, as well as the economic sections of the Agreement.
